Asia in St. Louis StoryMap

The Asia in St. Louis StoryMap exhibition explores the vibrant tapestry of Asian cultures nestled within the heart of the Midwest. As a city renowned for its rich diversity and historical significance, St. Louis serves as a melting pot where various cultural threads intertwine to create a unique mosaic of experiences.

From the first recorded Chinese immigrant in 1857 to today, Asian immigrants have made their mark on St. Louis. Asia in St. Louis illuminates the profound impact of Asian communities on the city’s social, physical, and cultural landscape. This project integrates geographical data alongside a collection of multimedia-empowered narratives of real people to help better understand where and when these stories took place in St. Louis.
