The MOBIUS online library catalog will temporarily suspend services MOBIUS borrowing and lending services starting on April 18 as it migrates to a new operating and software system. What is MOBIUS?

MOBIUS is a consortium of 78 libraries, primarily in Missouri, but also including libraries in Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas, and Texas. The consortium maintains a combined catalog of member libraries’ holdings, providing access to over 29 million items. MOBIUS was created to allow faculty, students, and staff at member institutions to borrow these materials from other member libraries.

The MOBIUS consortium also shares materials with the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries (CARL), including over 45 academic, public, and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming. CARL expands MOBIUS consortium access to more than 33 million items, including audio-visual materials. 

When Should I Use MOBIUS?

Search MOBIUS to broaden your search. You may discover sources unavailable in Washington University Libraries but open to borrowing from a MOBIUS member library. You may search the MOBIUS Catalog directly or transfer a search you begin in the University’s Catalog to the MOBIUS Catalog by clicking the “Search MOBIUS” button.

Resources in the MOBIUS catalog with an ” available ” status can be requested for delivery to the University Libraries for check out. A courier service delivers library materials to member libraries once per day, five days per week. Requests are typically filled in 3-5 days.
