John Furlong serves as the associate university librarian for the Research and Academic Collaboration Services Division. He leads library planning and programming that serves scholar-oriented services in support of research, instruction, and learning. He also facilitates the design and implementation of collaborative partnerships and innovations that respond to the evolving needs of faculty and students.

As an administrator, Furlong has had significant leadership experiences in libraries in the St. Louis area. He has worked at academic, public, and special library institutions.

Furlong holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, and a master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has been active in national and state library associations, such as the American Library Association and the Missouri Library Association, where he served as a member at large on the executive board. He has also has worked with the Hester J. Hodgdon Libraries for All Program in Nicaragua and the Maria De Mattias Library & Resource Center in Guatemala.
