Nelson I. Wu Collection

The late Nelson Ikon Wu was the Edward Mallinckrodt Distinguished University Professor of the History of Art and Chinese Culture in Arts & Sciences at Washington University. Professor Wu was an internationally recognized scholar of Asian art and architecture.

Professor Wu and his family donated this Nelson I. Wu personal collection to Washington University Libraries in 2001 and 2005. The collection includes books and journals in Chinese and Japanese art history, architecture, history, language and literature, philosophy, and Buddhism.

The Libraries also acquired several monographic sets with the “Nelson I. and Mu-lien H. Wu Memorial Book Fund,” which is accessible through the online catalog.

Most Chinese and Japanese books are shelved in the East Asian Library, with western language books shelved in the Olin Library. There are several archival materials such as museum catalogs, journal articles, brochures, etc. These archival materials are searchable on the finding aid.
