Nelson I. Wu Collection
The late Nelson Ikon Wu was the Edward Mallinckrodt Distinguished University Professor of the History of Art and Chinese Culture in Arts & Sciences at WashU. Professor Wu was an internationally recognized scholar of Asian art and architecture.
Professor Wu and his family donated this Nelson I. Wu personal collection to WashU Libraries in 2001 and 2005. The collection includes books and journals on Chinese and Japanese art history, architecture, history, language and literature, philosophy, and Buddhism.
The Libraries also acquired several monographic sets with the “Nelson I. and Mu-lien H. Wu Memorial Book Fund,” which is accessible through the online catalog.
Most Chinese and Japanese books are shelved in the East Asian Library, with Western-language books in the Olin Library. The library also contains several archival materials, such as museum catalogs, journal articles, brochures, etc., which are searchable on the finding aid.
