East Asian Library to Move Select Items to West Campus
The East Asian Library will see the removal of 16,000 items on May 17 from its stacks and collections to the West Campus storage facility to ease overcrowding. The highly anticipated move will serve external and internal patrons, increasing browsability and access to the collection.
A top priority is to ensure that materials remain available to patrons during the end-of-the-semester rush. Books will be on the shelves and available until they are removed. Shelf codes are being assigned to items before the move, which means that the record updates will happen quickly as items are moving. Record updates will be completed by May 26. The University Libraries have also put new procedures into place to ensure record accuracy and to clean up problematic records prior to the move. Post-move stacks cleanup will begin at East Asian Library and will conclude at West Campus on May 30.
