Explore the Relaunched AVA Studio at Olin Library
The Audiovisual, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality (AVA) Studio is a new hub for digital experiences and production, located on Level A of Olin Library. Users can experiment with immersive AR/VR headsets, create high-quality photo and video content, or even record a podcast.
The AVA Studio space includes:
- Immersive AR/VR Experiences: Dive into a world of virtual environments with state-of-the-art headsets.
- Creative Equipment: Capture high-definition videos, record podcasts, or experiment with photography using leading-edge technology and software.
- Collaborative Space: Available to individuals or groups; AVA is designed to bring ideas to life.
First-time users are required to complete a brief training session to get familiar with the equipment and space. All users are required to reserve the studio in advance. More details about our reservation system, available software and equipment, and usage policies are available on the AVA Studio page.
Data Services at WashU Libraries worked with the TechDen team in Student Technology Services and the Digital Intelligence & Innovation Accelerator to expand the service offerings and ensure that the space was as useful and accessible as possible.
“Our team is proud of the collegial spirit that has made this project a reality. We’re excited to reopen the AVA Studio, bring accessible AR/VR technology to campus, and invite our users’ curiosity and creativity,” says Jennifer Moore, head of Data Services at the Libraries. “Our goal is to empower WashU students, faculty, and staff to engage with innovative digital tools that will enhance their creative and academic projects. We can’t wait to see how the WashU community will take advantage of this space.”
