Catalogs, Course Bulletins, and Alumni Directories

University Archives has physical copies of Washington University in St. Louis catalogs, course bulletins, and alumni directories. Most are digitized and available online. The catalog and course bulletins list courses offered, faculty, and officers. Until 1921, each year’s catalog included a list of students attending and their home addresses. After 1922, this information was published in a campus telephone book (Chimes or Ternion).

Available Digital Catalogs of Washington University in St. Louis Catalogs for 1912 – 2023 are discoverable in the University Archives Course Catalog Collection Box Folder. The catalogs are organized by date. There are folders by decade. Filenames include date and abbreviation for the school (e.g., “artsci” for Arts & Sciences, “bus” for Business, etc.).

WashU catalogs from the early years are available via Hathi Trust and Google Books (listed below).
