Home Movie Day
Time to go to your attic, dig through dusty boxes, call Grandma, discover your family’s hidden treasure trove of old home movies, and bring them to Home Movie Day. Home Movie Day will be held at the Creative Experience at Central Library (1301 Olive St., St. Louis, MO 63103).
Home Movie Day is a celebration of home movies and a time to learn about taking care of those precious memories. Andy Ulrich, Curator of Film and Media at WashU Libraries, will lead a workshop about media preservation in the morning. In the afternoon, we will screen your home movies.
The workshop and screenings are open to everyone. If you are interested in screening your home movies, films and videos must be dropped off prior to the event. We are accepting Super 8 mm and 16 mm film as well as VHS tapes. Drop off will be Tuesday through Friday from 10 am–4pm beginning September 10 and ending October 4 at Central Library’s Creative Experience. Your videos and film will then be inspected by archivists and returned on the day of the screening. We will also digitize one VHS per person.
Schedule of events:
10 am–Noon: Preservation Workshop with Andy Ulrich
2–4 pm: Screenings
