Sarah Laaker is the associate university librarian for the Facilities, Assessment, Communications & Events division. She has worked in libraries since 2000, starting as a circulation desk assistant at her hometown public library in Quincy, IL, followed by technical and public services, instruction, and leadership positions at John Wood Community College Library.

Since joining WashU Libraries in 2010, Sarah has continued to learn through various roles, including circulation librarian, manager of user space planning, head of the Library Space & Building Operations Management department, and her current role. Sarah has enjoyed working on facilities projects of all sizes, including the Olin Library Transformation Project (2016-2018), significant operational planning such as the Libraries’ pandemic response and operations, and leading and learning with her dedicated, highly skilled teams. She values the opportunity to positively impact library staff and users’ experiences.

Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in English and art from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, and a master’s in library and information science from Dominican University in River Forest, IL.
