As the Chief of Staff for the WashU Libraries, Christy Matteuzzi serves as the principal deputy to the Vice Provost and University Librarian and oversees the planning, operations, and management of the OVPUL. She manages a variety of ongoing and annual projects across the Libraries, including the Libraries’ advisory groups (National Council and Faculty Libraries Council), the Newman Exploration Center, the Newman Exploration Travel Award Program, the Libraries’ grants program, the Libraries’ internship programs, and the Libraries’ monthly staff meetings. Matteuzzi is also responsible for university records management for the OVPUL and policy management for the Libraries and oversees internal committees, task forces, and project assignments within the WashU Libraries.
Matteuzzi is a member of the University Librarian’s Council, the senior management team for the Libraries, and works closely with that team to implement decisions and directives, promote collaboration across the Libraries and WashU community, facilitate communication, and ensure the advancement of the Libraries strategic goals and the implementation of its projects.
Matteuzzi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. She’s been with WashU since March 2009 and has served as Chief of Staff for the WashU Libraries since July 2019. Before coming to Washington University, Matteuzzi was a paralegal for a private labor and employment law firm in St. Louis and the proprietor of a bakery franchise.
Outside the Libraries, Matteuzzi enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, entertaining, gardening, running, strength training, yoga, and regularly participating in athletic competitions.
