Atomic Energy Technical Reports

Black and white photo of the empty US Senate Chamber, circa 1873.

This collection of approximately 18,000 documents from 1945-1970 are declassified engineering and scientific reports on atomic energy manufacture, experimentation, and usage. The reports were produced at numerous universities, corporations, and government agencies including several in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Although not published by the US Atomic Energy Commission (USAEC), the USAEC collected and distributed these reports.

Listed here are only names of agencies and a range of report numbers for each agency – not individual report titles. There are no finding aids at the West Campus Library facility to search for specific reports.

Almost all Washington University holdings for these documents are at West Campus; a few appear in the library catalog with LC call numbers. Only in rare cases are the document runs complete for any agency. In most cases the citations here list only the first and last numbers of an incomplete run linked by “to”; individual document numbers are listed if only a handful of these documents are held by the Library. The numbers in square brackets [ ] are storage locations.

For example: for BNL– Brookhaven National Lab 23 to 50904 [19-J-9] the holdings are incomplete between numbers 23 and 50904 and for Brookhaven National Lab Power Transmission Project 25, 26 and 27 [19-K-6] the only holdings are numbers 25, 26, and 27.
