Danforth Utilities Upgrade Project & Libraries Impact

A campus utilities project will have an impact on University Libraries services starting the week of May 20 and through late summer. Construction will occur on the north to northwest side of John M. Olin Library, but there will be no change to hours and accessibility.

During this period, library patrons will be affected in the following ways:

  • Delivery: Starting about May 31 and continuing through late summer, book and other physical materials requests, including campus deliveries, may take a little longer than usual to be ready for use, because the time to transport materials from one library to another will increase.
  • Book Return: The Throop Drive book drop will be closed this summer starting May 31 through sometime in the fall semester. Users can still return books at the drive-up bins at the South 40 on Shepley Drive and West Campus Library, at 7425 Forsyth Blvd.
  • Noise: Noisy conditions during construction hours of 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, will affect studying in Olin Library, especially on the north and northwest sides of the library. Earplugs will be available at the Help Desk on the first floor of Olin Library.
  • Navigation: Navigating to and from Olin Library from the north and northwest directions will be different than usual and library users should follow directional signage. Kopolow Business Library users may experience navigational changes to and from the library and increased noise during construction hours due to proximity to the excavation truck traffic route.
