Nadia Ghasedi

Nadia Ghasedi is the Associate University Librarian for Special Collections, Preservation, & Digital Strategies at WashU, where she leads transformative initiatives to share, preserve, and enhance the Libraries’ diverse and invaluable collections. In her leadership role, she oversees the Julian Edison Department of Special Collections; Data Services; Preservation, Processing, and Exhibitions; and Digital Preservation, Processing, and Reformatting.

As a WashU Libraries Leadership team member, Nadia plays a pivotal role in shaping the Libraries’ strategic vision, driving policy development, and guiding resource allocation to ensure the sustainability and growth of core services.

A passionate advocate for inclusive leadership, Nadia fosters a team culture built on collaboration, diversity, and continuous growth. She integrates coaching principles into her leadership approach, having completed the WashU Institute in Leadership Excellence Coaching Certificate Program. Her commitment to mentorship and team growth ensures that both staff and projects thrive in a dynamic environment.

Since joining the WashU Libraries in 2007, Nadia has built a career marked by progressive responsibility and impactful contributions. These include securing major grant funding and leading ground-breaking projects such as the Mellon-funded Eyes on the Prize Preservation Project and Born-Digital Poetry: Planning for the Future of Literary Archives.

Nadia holds an Executive MBA from WashU’s Olin School of Business, an M.A. in Information Science and Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri–Columbia, a Certificate in Film Preservation from the L. Jeffrey School of Film Preservation at the George Eastman Museum, and a B.A. in Communication Arts with a minor in Classical Humanities from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

A diverse academic background and practical expertise drive Nadia’s vision in the rapidly evolving fields of library/archival science and higher education.
