Winter Holiday Closure

Most locations of WashU Libraries will be closed to patrons from Saturday, December 21 through Wednesday, January 1:

  • John M. Olin Library
  • Kranzberg Art & Architecture Library
  • East Asian Library
  • Gaylord Music Library
  • Kopolow Business Library

All remote resources including 24/7 chat will remain available throughout winter break. 

Faculty and students are encouraged to reach out to their subject librarians with questions or if they anticipate any issues or needs during this time.

Regular winter break hours and operations at the Libraries will resume on Thursday, January 2. Details and hours for all libraries can be viewed on the Library Hours page.

Service Adjustments

  • Campus Delivery will be suspended on December 18 and resume on January 6.
  • All patron requests for Olin and West Campus libraries (holds, Campus Delivery, ILL, Course Reserves) will be suspended on December 21 and queued for processing on January 2.
  • Materials on the Olin hold shelf that would have expired during the closure will be extended to January 6.
  • Starting December 21, items left in return bins may not be discharged until January 2.

Additional locations

Becker Medical Library, Brown School Library, and the Law Library will operate differently during this period. During the winter break:

  • Becker Library will be accessible 24×7 to all valid medical school ID badge holders. The information desks will be staffed as usual except for university holidays on December 24, 25, 31, and January 1.
  • The Brown School Library will be remote on December 26 and 27; open on December 23 and 30 from 8:30 am to 12 pm; and closed on the university holidays.
  • The Law Library will only be open to the Law School community via swipe card access.
