University Libraries New Website Preview

The Washington University Libraries are launching a new website on February 18. See below for a preview of what’s in store.

While the immediate changes you may notice include a sleeker, brighter look and feel, our goal is that the new site makes it easier and more intuitive for all of our users to connect with the University Libraries and find what they need.

Key Changes Include

  1. a single box for searching University Libraries catalogs and key discovery tools for databases, e-resources, interlibrary loan, research guides, and more
  2. access to our 24/7 chat service, search tools, and library hours available via the widgets in the top right corner on every page of the site
  3. frequently used items such as My Accounts, Off-Campus Access, and more accessible from the toolbar on the home page and our new “Tools” menu at the bottom of the left sidebar

Additional Updates

We’ve also completely revised our Special Collections and Exhibitions sections, making it easier to explore the unique and extensive materials available for research and scholarship at the Washington University Libraries.

Additional changes include streamlined and revised content across the site, including updated guidance for research tools and details about the expert assistance and resources available including instruction, subject librarians, data services, and more.

The changes we made are in response to the feedback that we’ve received about our website over the years. We will continue to gather input and make updates so that we can be sure our website is simple and intuitive for everyone to use going forward. Although we have heard concerns that a change mid-semester isn’t ideal for some users, numerous technical and logistical constraints of our current site have dictated that a change now (as opposed to waiting until the summer) is the best path forward.

We are looking forward to unveiling this site on February 18 and sharing additional resources for navigating it at that time. Anyone with immediate questions and concerns is welcome to contact our Director of Communications, Kimberly Singer, at ksinger@wustl.edu.
