The Open Collection – TOC03: Plan STL
The third edition of The Open Collection—TOC03: Plan STL—features a range of urban planning documents from the past century of St Louis planning history. Included are details from first comprehensive city plan of 1907 and its subsequent iterations in 1947 and 1956; detailed studies of the northern riverfront, downtown business district, and competition guidelines for the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial; as well as the historically significant redevelopment plan for the Millcreek Valley and the city’s first zoning ordinance. Seen together, this collection charts the changing priorities, anxieties, and aspirations of the city across the long arc of the 20th century.
The Open Collection is an exhibit series that looks to unearth and display a curated selection from the Kranzberg Art & Architecture Library Special Collections. TOC is a collaborative curatorial project of Jesse Vogler, Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture, and Jennifer Akins, Subject Librarian for Art and Architecture.
