Spring Reserves

The Washington University Libraries will still be closed this spring. Because of this, typical print reserves will not be happening for Spring 2021.

Anything that you would like to have placed on reserve for your courses will need to be in electronic format. We own some books in electronic format and can purchase others for you if they are available. Unfortunately, many textbook publishers have restrictions which don’t allow libraries to hold a license to an electronic copy, so I will not be able to procure everything. I have suggested Open Educational Resources (OER) in the past, and it is possible you can find some freely available books there to supplement your teaching. More information can be found at: https://libguides.wustl.edu/ebooks/opentextbooks.

Another alternative is scanning portions of the print textbooks that are normally reserved. The pdfs can be uploaded into your Canvas page. Copyright law places limitations of one chapter or 15% of a book being copied. However, you can have a section on reserve and then remove that section to replace it with a different one during the semester. Tips for Integrating the Library into Canvas.
