What is MOBIUS?
MOBIUS is a consortium of academic libraries in the state of Missouri. It is also a union catalog of the holdings of member libraries. MOBIUS was created to allow faculty, students, and staff at member institutions to borrow library materials from other members.
Libraries participating in the MOBIUS catalog are organized by geographic area into eleven clusters. Please note that the Washington University School of Medicine Library is not included in the MOBIUS Catalog.
How do I request books?
Start your search in Primo or the Classic Catalog. If the title you want is not available at Washington University, transfer your search request to the MOBIUS central catalog by clicking on the “[Search] MOBIUS” button or link. If you find the item you want, click on the “Display Holdings of MOBIUS Libraries” link. If the book is not available at Washington University, click on “REQUEST THIS ITEM.” You will be asked to identify your institution (WASH U) and enter your WUSTL Key, and the pickup location where you want the item to be delivered. Submit the request and it will be forwarded to one of the libraries which has an available copy.
How long may I keep MOBIUS books?
The loan period for all MOBIUS materials is 4 weeks. You may renew items twice. If you do not return books promptly, you will be billed and your borrowing privileges will be blocked. As a shared arrangement, the success of MOBIUS depends on the cooperation of all participants.
How many items may I borrow?
Faculty and graduate students can have a maximum of 30 requests or checkouts at any time. Undergraduate students can have a maximum of 20 requests or checkouts.
How will I know the item I requested has arrived?
The library you chose as a pickup location will notify you when the item you requested arrives. You can also use the My Catalog function to check on the status of your requests.
