Olin Transformation Update

Rendering of the Thomas Gallery on Level 1 of Olin Library

Summer has arrived, and the Olin Transformation Project continues to progress. Preparations are well underway for construction of the Thomas Gallery exhibition space on Level 1 of Olin Library. Here’s what to expect over the next several weeks.

The following services on Level 1 will be unavailable temporarily starting later this week, as the construction team renovates floors, ceilings, and building systems in the pathway that will connect the Thomas Gallery and future north entrance:

  • Level 1 restrooms. They will reopen in 4 – 5 weeks.
  • Level 1 drinking fountains. A new drinking fountain with a bottle filler will be available on Level 1 by mid-fall 2017.
  • The New Book Display will return later this summer near Olin’s south entrance.

While Level 1 restrooms and drinking fountains are unavailable, please use the restrooms and drinking fountains on Olin’s four other floors, which will be accessible via the main stair and elevator.

By mid-summer, Olin’s new north entrance will be open for use. Once the north entrance opens, it will temporarily be the only building entrance, as the south entrance will close for renovations until mid-fall. Then, both the north and south entrances will be open!

When the Thomas Gallery opens in time for the January 2018 semester, visitors will find an expanded exhibition space showcasing library collections, traveling exhibits, and more.
