News and notes for math, July 2016

Two OA titles on Project Euclid: Electronic Journal of Probability, an open access journal publishing full-length research articles in probability theory, and Electronic Communications in Probability, an open access journal publishing short research articles in probability theory, are now available in Project Euclid. Copublished by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and the Bernoulli Society, these titles join other high quality publications in probability and statistics available at http://projecteuclid.org.

The Mathematics Genealogy Project hit the 200,000th entry in their collection of data on PhDs in mathematics. – See more at: blogs.ams.org/beyondreviews/2016/07/01/mathematics-genealogy-project-at-200k.

Ron Freiwald’s textbook An Introduction to Set Theory and Topology is now available in Open Scholarship; it should be included in Teaching Commons soon also. John McCarthy’s Transition to Higher Mathematics: Structure and Proof (Second Edition) is also there. If you have teaching materials or books to which you have distribution rights, we are happy to distribute through our repository. Just contact Ruth Lewis to get the ball rolling on that.
