News and notes for history of science-medicine-technology, Dec. 2017-Jan. 2018

Several additions have been made to Talks at WU on the history of science, medicine, technology, fall 2017-spring 2018. I’m happy to add other events if you let me know.

Attention undergraduate and graduate students: Enter WU Libraries’ Student Essay Contest for a Chance to Win Cash. Submission deadline: March 2.

IsisCB Explore is an increasingly useful research tool for the history of science, whose core dataset comes from bibliographical citations in the Isis Bibliography of the History of Science. I’ve blogged about this before. They have not yet implemented an “open url resolver”, so we do not yet have Get it! buttons on citations. However they have recently added “Send Request to Law ILL” links on each citation. If you access from a WU computer, these links really do go to WU Law Library Interlibrary Loan, but unfortunately that will NOT be useful to most of you. I have reached out to see if we can add our general Interlibrary Loan link or remove that Law Library link, but meanwhile please ignore those links.
