A variety of new furniture for the study spaces on Level 1 of Olin Library is on the way. Furniture will include tables with chairs, soft seating, and accessories such as laptop tables and “power towers” to increase accessibility to electrical outlets.
The Libraries’ goal is to refresh the well-used study areas on Level 1 in order to increase user productivity and comfort. Furniture and finishes were selected by a team of library staff members and student interns. In some cases, users had opportunities to sample and provide feedback on seating options.
The first phase of installation, including the areas near The Writing Center and along the south perimeter of Olin, is expected to happen October 23-24. The second phase, including the area immediately south of the Help Desk, is expected to happen on November 21. The Libraries apologize for disruptions prior to and during the installation.
