Mary Wickes, the First Mary Poppins

Did you see the new movie “Mary Poppins Returns” starring Emily Blunt?  Have you seen the 1964 “Mary Poppins” starring Julie Andrews?  Did you know that WU alum Mary Wickes played the first Mary Poppins in a one-hour live ‘Studio One in Hollywood’ presentation on CBS on December 19, 1949?  Well, she did, which makes her the first Mary Poppins!  University Archives has photographs, her script, and other material from this performance and many of her other TV, film, and theater performances during her acting career that spanned more than 60 years.
