Updated Info on East Asian Library Retrieval

The suspension of retrieval from the East Asian Library announced on March 23 is still in effect. As we do not yet have a definite date for resuming retrieval, we have taken another step and temporarily removed the “Request” button from the Classic Catalog screen for items housed in January Hall. Please place any new requests directly through Interlibrary Loan until further notice. We’re continuing to work on transferring outstanding requests placed after March 21 to ILL.

Our previous update recommended MOBIUS in addition to ILL; however, we strongly recommend using ILL over MOBIUS for faster delivery. The MOBIUS catalog shows WU East Asian Library books as available and the system automatically requests the local item, when in fact we are unable to retrieve them.

We are continuing to work with our campus partners and January Hall renovation project team to assess and resolve an unanticipated environmental issue related to the construction. The Libraries hope to resume normal operations soon and will post another update when we have more information to share.

Please contact Ryuta Komaki, Japanese and Korean Studies librarian and interim East Asian librarian, at rkomaki@wustl.edu for assistance and with any questions.
