Historical Business Periodicals

This collection contains Advertising Periodicals, 1815-1888 featuring periodicals that were primarily used as advertising vehicles for businesses and industries, including medicine, fashion, business, industry, agriculture, and others in the 19th century, and Business and General Education Periodicals, 1800-1885, focusing on the long and rich history of business and education in the United Sates and reflecting a broad range of evolving educational methods and encompass many classroom environments.

While Business, Industrial and Professional Periodicals, 1774-1858 provides coverage of the most important business and industry publications in the U.S. from 1774-1858, it also chronicles the large-scale shifts in commerce during the rise of capitalism. Business, Industrial and Professional Periodicals, 1859-1870 includes journals devoted to specific trades and professions and periodicals promoting the interests of industry, Business, Industrial and Professional Periodicals, 1871-1901 chronicles the large-scale shifts in commerce during the second industrial revolution’s solidification of capitalism, mass production, and industrialization, and also includes journals devoted to specific trades as well.
