Happy Birthday to MLC author David Wagoner!

 

Today–June 5th–marks the 1926 birthday of celebrated poet, novelist, and playwright David Wagoner. Wagoner is the author of numerous poetry collections and novels, including Dry Sun, Dry Wind, In Broken Country, The Road to Many a Wonder, Up and Around, and The Escape Artist, which was turned into a film by Francis Ford Coppola.

Wagoner served as the editor of Poetry Northwest from 1966 to 2002 and chancellor of the American Academy of Poets from 1978 to 1999. He currently teaches at the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts on Whidbey Island in Washington.
