Fendi Loves Kay Nielsen (and so do we!)

The Twelve Dancing Princesses and Other Fairy Tales Illustrated by Kay Nielsen, 1923 edition, from the Walt Reed Illustration Archive

One glance at Kay Nielsen’s infectiously whimsical illustrations and you know they were meant to be brought to life. Luckily, Karl Lagerfeld did just that for the Fendi Fall 2016/Winter 2017 Haute Couture collection. The show this past July featured a number of modern-day princesses (Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner anyone?) and the world’s top models floating over the Trevi Fountain in Rome sporting these fairytale looks. These art-deco silhouettes haven’t been in the fashion scene in a long while, so what better location to celebrate their revival through the genius of Kay Nielsen than the beautiful Trevi Fountain?
