The Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts includes a number of programs, including the Fashion Design Program. The records for this program are now available for all researchers at the Washington University Archives.
These unique records have many visual elements that provide great insight to fashion at Washington University. The Fashion Design Program allows students to explore and learn about fashion, presenting annual fashion shows that exhibit students’ hard work and creativity.
This collection includes many scrapbooks and binders that have sketches from these student projects alongside photographs of the final product, as well as many photographs from the annual fashion shows. In addition to the physical scrapbooks, the Fashion Design Program Records has a series of DVDs and CDs that include digital copies of many still images as well as video of some of the fashion shows themselves.
This past summer, one of our amazing WUA student workers highlighted a few items from this exciting collection in a small exhibit in our reading room. Come in and see the materials for yourself! You can find a finding aid to learn more about this collection here.
In addition to the Fashion Design Records, WUA includes other collections of material related to the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts including publications created and distributed by the Sam Fox School, the College of Architecture Records, publications of the College of Architecture, and records of the Steedman Architectural Competition
