Excavation Begins at Olin Library

As part of the Olin Library Transformation project, excavation of the Whispers Café area began last week. Trucks are making their way to the Olin site from Forsyth Boulevard and back again, escorted by golf carts for the safety of pedestrians and bike traffic.

As of June 24, 80 loads of dirt have been removed from the site. Based on the estimate of 1,100 truckloads total, we have 1,020 loads to go! The dirt is going to an off-campus project, the Kingshighway/Forest Park Parkway interchange, to be used as fill.

Inside Olin Library, we are distributing free ear plugs at five spots: the Help Desk, Special Collections, and The Writing Center on Level 1; the Arc on Level A; and the Center for Diversity & Inclusion on Level 2.

Outside Olin on our large construction fence, look for the signs that show the changes and improvements users can expect when new spaces are open in time for the spring 2018 semester.
