The Impact of UC & Elsevier: A Discussion Forum on Open Access and Scholarly Publishing at Washington University
Following the University of California’s high-profile termination of negotiations with Elsevier for renewal of its electronic journal subscriptions, many schools are grappling with the effects of this remarkable action, and are considering new opportunities for engaging with academic publishers and ways to enable open access to scholarly content.
Washington University Libraries invites all faculty, students, and members of the WashU community to an open forum on May 3 at 2:00 pm to discuss open access, publishing, journal costs, and the impact of the University of California-Elsevier decision for scholars at Washington University and beyond. We will discuss what happened, the implications for academic publishing and scholarly communications, and the state of open access at Washington University.
Please bring your thoughts, ideas, and questions to the Libraries on May 3. We look forward to an invigorating discussion.
