GIS Day is an international event, now nearly 20 years old, which promotes spatial awareness, geography and geographic information systems (GIS). This year our theme of GIS in the Community will include on-campus speakers describing how they use GIS to impact community as well as an off-campus community service learning project.
Morning activities will include a GIS social breakfast followed by speakers from the Environmental Law Clinic, Center for Public Health Systems Science and the Green City Coalition. In the afternoon members of the WUSTL GIS community will engage in a service learning project for 4th graders in a local community school, introducing spatial problem solving and cartography.
