Curator Talk on Bound in Tight Leather: Sex and Gender in Book Collecting

In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, men dominated book collecting, and women were often painted as enemies of books. Curator of Rare Books Cassie Brand will discuss gender roles and sex as they related to book collecting in this time period, including how men sexualized books and the use of human skin binding.
