During these challenging and unprecedented times, the Data Services team is dedicated to assisting the Washington University community with its data-related needs. Following the guidelines of recent university policy, we will be making changes to service delivery and updating our resources to best accommodate the WashU community.
We will continue to provide assistance on research data management, data curation, data literacy, data analysis, and geographic information systems (GIS). For a more detailed explanation of our core services, please refer to the redesigned Data Services webpage.
Do you have a GIS or data-related question? Our LibGuides might have the answer. Our LibGuides cover common questions regarding our core services along with more specific tasks such as analyzing data with R and creating contours with Lidar data using ArcGIS. We are currently updating our LibGuides to include more resources and answers to frequently asked questions.
There are a wealth of online learning resources which cover our core areas. For example, for GIS instruction, LinkedIn Learning and ESRI have numerous videos and tutorials available. Please consult this guide on how to log on to LinkedIn Learning using your WUSTL key credentials for full access. We are compiling a list of useful online resources and will post them on our LibGuides.
GIS Help Desk Hours
We will hold virtual GIS Help Desk sessions at the regularly scheduled times via Zoom:
You can find the Zoom links for the virtual GIS Help Desk sessions on the Data Services page. Once you enter the Zoom meeting room, one of our staff will be notified and contact you promptly.
Data Services staff will still be available for one-on-one consultation. We can provide consultations on research data management, data curation, data literacy, data analysis, data visualization, and GIS. Consultations will be administered through Zoom. Before your appointment, please fill out this questionnaire, and a team member will be in touch with you within two business days.
Data Users Group
Monthly meetings for our Data Users Group are currently suspended. However, we will send information on any webinars that would be relevant to members of the Data Users Group.
In summary, Data Services is prepared to provide many of the same services you have come to expect but will deliver them virtually. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions.
