APS to join SCOAP3

Beginning January 1, 2018, APS will be participating in the second phase of SCOAP3.

The decision by the APS Board of Directors to participate in SCOAP3 is an important step forward for high-energy physics publishing and affirms the Society’s long-standing support for the principles of open access to the benefit of the scientific enterprise. Under the two-year agreement, APS will work with SCOAP3 to publish all high-energy physics papers in Physical Review Letters, Physical Review C, and Physical Review D under a CC-BY license at no cost to the authors. SCOAP3 offers a route for high-energy physics authors to eliminate the financial barriers of disseminating their research in the rapidly-expanding open access landscape.
