Letter to Faculty, May 14, 2018

Dear Danforth Campus Faculty,

I am writing to share with you that we have now completed the first phase of the Libraries’ Short-term Collection Space Management Project, which closed on April 30.

As a reminder, this Project is designed to manage the Libraries’ congested collection space by selectively removing print journal volumes to which the University Libraries have immediate or near immediate alternative access. Project information can be found at Collection Space Management Initiative.

We received a small number of requests to retain some of the print journal volumes eligible for deaccessioning. These volumes were all retained and a list of these items can be found at library.wustl.edu/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/STCSMP-Phase-One-Retention.pdf.

The Libraries understand that some faculty may want to obtain selected deaccessioned materials for personal use. Please notify your Subject Librarian before May 18 (Subject Librarian Contact Information) if you would like a few volumes set aside. Deaccessioned volumes will be available for pickup from May 23 – May 31. Subject librarians can assist with information about picking up materials.

As a reminder, the second review period will take place in the fall when faculty are back on campus. I will be in touch with more information as we approach September.
