Depending on your needs you should investigate the Apple QuickTake camera.
In terms of its lens and other "photographic" features it is a snap-shot
camera. In terms of its image capturing technology it is a high end
instrument. It captures 8 and 24 bit images which are easily transfered to
computers for manipulation and storage. Unless you're using a polaroid back
on a 4x5in or 6x6cm camera body I'd say you'd be very happy with the
QuickTake.
