I believe we might be mixing apples and oranges. The example of some traditional people driving cattle or buffalo off a cliff was considered, erroneously I believe, as an 'unsustainable' act, when in fact could have been perfectly sustainable, provided of course, not all animals were killed. With regards to the "foundation" upon which sustainable development should be built this must be one of love, compassion and shared responsibility and committment where negative externalities are reduced/eliminated (as utopean as it may sound). As far as an actual example, it will all depend on your definition of 'sustainable'. Since sustainability is not a model but a process one most be very careful not to box it in a particular definition.
