and developes the idea that small communities need to develope sustainable
self-sufficiency for the security and longevity of the civilized world and
the ecosystems it will be ultimately be responsible for.
Shouldn't we admit an opposing view, that a global economy offers the
security that putting all your eggs in the local basket could never supply?
The northeast of Brazil suffers droughts that force the population to
migrate. Is there a local solution?
Perhaps it all depends on local CULTURE, to have the judgement to
recognize
>superfluous and pernicious products and
>gadgets, if people reduce their childish hankering for material
>goods and learn to appreciate full human development more, there
>would be natural resources and money enough to produce trains, buses,

although I personally believe that cars are an item of jewelry for most North
Americans (not so much in Mexico?) and CERTAINLY for Southern Californians!.
Although I admit to totally supporting Joaqim's every utterance and find
his input most valuable, I am also currently taking classes in International
Business and some of the ideas presented, about trade and why there are
markets for goods and services beyond the local culture, are beginning to
change my thinking!
And just because I want to live in Brazil and learn Portuguese!
Tchau,
