Message-ID: <199610050147.AA28400@mail.crl.com> Date: Fri, 4 Oct 1996 18:46:26 -0800 From: Gary Berlind <mailto:gberlind@CRL.COM> Subject: Powerful ListServe Barfing Messages To: Multiple recipients of list DEVEL-L <mailto:DEVEL-L@AMERICAN.EDU>
Hi folks:1) Whenever I post somethingto Devel-L, I get back weird diagnostics, rarely the same, indicating bouncing, and other such anomalies. I assume my messages get through to the list, just the same, because occasionally someone responds to what I've posted.
2) Furthermore, when I go to send a reply to a posting I've seen on Devel-L, it usually gets addressed with the name of the previous poster (the one whose message I'm responding to), rather than the name of the list, which is what I'd like to have happen. Therefore, I usually have to cut and paste to get the list address in there. (I ultimately end up pasting the following into the TO: field of my mail program: mailto:DEVEL-L@AMERICAN.EDU, which is what the original info I got when I subscribed to Devel-L said I should do.) But why doesn't that address get laid in there automatically when I do a reply, which always seems to work on other lists.
Am I the only one observing these symptoms? (If not, I suggest we send this listserv to a developing country, tell them it's an appropriate technology, and watch them go back to bows and arrows... [:-))
