Hi,

Over the next couple of weeks leading up to IUCN-The World Conservation Union's World Conservation Congress (WCC) in Montreal, IUCN is establishing two email conferences: Integrating Gender into Conservation, and Business and the Environment.

As a subscriber to a related list or reader of a related newsgroup, we thought you might like to join in the conversation. Comments and threads from our email conferences will be used as discussion starters in the upcoming WCC sessions, so it is important that as many people as possible participate in these exciting fora.

Rather than pack your mailbox or news-server with massive amounts of possibly unwanted info, we'll give a (very) brief description for each list below along with subscription info and pointers to the full info files. If you're interested, keep reading: ______________________________________________________ BUSINESS AND THE ENVIRONMENT * Run by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) * To subscribe send a message with SUBSCRIBE WBCSD-BUS in the message body to mailto:LISTPROC@VITA.ORG * For additional information send INFO WBCSD-BUS to mailto:LISTPROC@VITA.ORG * When you're ready to send messages to the rest of the list send them to mailto:WBCSD-BUS@VITA.ORG

______________________________________________________ INTEGRATING GENDER INTO CONSERVATION * Run by the IUCN Social Policy Group * To subscribe send a message with SUBSCRIBE IUCN-GENDER in the message body to mailto:LISTPROC@VITA.ORG * For additional information send INFO IUCN-GENDER to mailto:LISTPROC@VITA.ORG * When you're ready to send messages to the rest of the list send them to mailto:IUCN-GENDER@VITA.ORG

The list is interested in hearing about examples of situations in which women's knowledge of or interaction with the environment has made an important difference, or, on the other hand, situations where not specifically including this information has yielded an inaccurate or inappropriate outcome/conclusion. The Social Policy Group would like to be able to provide such concrete examples to some of the workshops at the WCC. In addtion to starting discussion and gathering input around the WCC workshop lines (see info file), we are also looking for information and advice from others so that our efforts to mainstream gender policy for IUCN can be successful as possible- we want your best advice on what has worked and what has not.

______________________________________________________ Thanks for your interest. Archives of the discussions generated in these lists will be made available after the WCC. Check them out at IUCN's website: http://www.iucn.org/
