The Development Studies Institute of the Academy for
Educational Development still has a few places left in its
international course on Project Management to be held in
Washington, D.C., February 24-March 28, 1997.

The course covers Computer Tools for Project Implementation and Monitoring, Team Building, and Leadership. It grows out of seven years of AED experience delivering an annual course on computer tools for management of the project cycle. The course is designed to respond to the growing use of computers to improve the quality of project work in developing countries. Participants master skills in the use of data base management and critical path method computer programs for managing the implementation and monitoring of development projects, while also acquiring skills and understandings of teamwork and leadership in a project context from instructors with first hand experience. The intended participants are primarily staff members of developing country planning agencies or planning units of sector ministries, or development bank officers who already work with projects. Others, such as NGO managers or contractor staff working with projects can also benefit significantly. The instructors are drawn from consultants and staff of the World Bank with many years of hands-on experience in project management.
