- New database: Japan Knowledge includes dictionaries, an encyclopedia, a biographical dictionary, a news database, and other information sources. More info. 3/7/2006
- The Black Film Promotional Material Collection is a new collection held in University Archives. This significant collection of non-film promotional material documents how blacks were portrayed in films from 1915 to 1980. The collection contains ca. 2,700 promotional items including photographic stills, programs, trade advertisements, advertising materials, advertising supplements, lobby cards, pressbooks, and posters, representing approximately 400 films, ranging in date from 1915 to 1980. - Neureuther Competition Underway! The 19th annual Neureuther Student Book Collection Essay Competition is underway. Full-time Washington University students are eligible to compete for cash prizes by submitting a short essay, bibliography, and a few items from their private book collection by April 3, 2006. A first-place award of $1,000 and second-place award of $500 will be given in each of two categories, graduate and undergraduate. - There are currently two exhibits on display in the Olin Library Lobby. The exhibits will run through March 5, 2006. Stop by and take a look!
- One exhibit celebrates Black History Month. The theme this year is "Celebrating Community: A tribute to Black Fraternal, Social, and Civic Institutions." The Exhibit is entitled "BAG - Black Artists' Group." Materials for the exhibit were supplied by Benjamin Looker, also author of the book entitled BAG.
- The other exhibit is entitled "Much Ado About Nothing." It was mounted by Joy Ryan, Performing Arts Department, to advertise the Performing Arts Department production of Shakespeare's play on Feb. 24, 25, 26 and March 3, 4, and 5.

- Catalog and proxy server outage: The online catalog will be unavailable beginning about 6am on Wednesday, December 28, while the software is upgraded. When the catalog is offline, so is the proxy server, so off-campus access to licensed databases and ejournals will not be possible. It is expected to be unavailable most of the day. WU Libraries holdings can be viewed in the MOBIUS catalog during the outage. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. 12/22/2005

- Database change: Dissertation Abstracts Online has been changed from the FirstSearch interface to ProQuest, as Dissertations & Theses (ProQuest).
