Libraries Announce 20th Annual
Student Book Collecting Competition

Cash Awards for Graduate and Undergraduate Students

Washington University students who have a passion for collecting books may compete for generous cash prizes by entering the 20th Annual Neureuther Student Book Collection Competition.

Sponsored by the Washington University Libraries, the Neureuther Competition is designed to encourage students to read for pleasure, to collect books, and to develop personal libraries. Book collections entered in this competition should reflect the personal and intellectual interests of their owner.

The Neureuther competition has graduate and undergraduate categories, with a first prize of $1,000 and a second prize of $500 awarded in each category. To enter, an individual must be a current full-time student at Washington University and must supply a completed entry form; a two- to four-page essay about the collection; a comprehensive bibliography of the books in the student's collection; and three to five books from the collection.

Entry forms and detailed Rules & Regulations are available at the Olin Library Help Center or online at: www.library.wustl.edu/collections/neureuther.html

Entry materials must be delivered to the Department of Special Collections, Olin Library, level 1, open 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Materials must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 2. Judges will consider the collection's scope, thematic unity, personal value to the collector, and other factors. Winners will be announced in late April.

The Neureuther Competition is made possible by the financial contributions of Carl Neureuther, a 1940 graduate of the University.
