Workshop on the Construction and Pedagogical Use of Digital Archives
The University Libraries, the Center for Joint Projects, the Humanities Digital Workshop, and the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences are holding a workshop for graduate students in the humanities from May 22-June 30, 2006 with the goal of giving scholars cutting edge tools early in their academic careers. The seminar will cover topics including creating standards for digital projects, developing and designing websites, preserving archival materials, and understanding intellectual property rights.
Seminar participants will develop digital projects using materials from the Libraries' Department of Special Collections. The workshop will meet in the Arc, the technology center at Olin Library.
The workshop is led by David Gants, Canada Research Chair in Humanities Computing at the University of New Brunswick and electronic editor for the Cambridge Edition of The Works of Ben Jonson and Joe Loewenstein, director of WU's Interdisciplinary Project in the Humanities and professor of English.
