What's New: ArticleReach Direct
Starting today, June 4th, Washington University Library is launching an unmediated delivery service for articles. It is called ArticleReach Direct.
After you've done a search in Find it! or another database, when you click on a Get it! button next to an article citation, if we have online access, you'll either get to the article itself, or a menu that lets you choose which online access point to use. If the Libraries cannot provide online access, you'll get a menu of choices, including checking the catalog. If the item you're trying to get is an article from a journal (rather than a book, say), the option under the Interlibrary Loan heading will say: Request this item via ArticleReach Direct. If the item is a book, you should get an ILLiad option instead.
When you get the ArticleReach Direct option, click on the Go button next to it. A window will open, asking for your affiliation; choose Washington University in St. Louis from the drop-down list, and click the Submit button. On the next screen, fill in your name and WU ID number, and click that Submit button.
The Request an Article form will display, with the information about the article you're looking for filled in. Add any comments you wish in the comment field, and choose a month, day, and year after which you'd no longer want the article. Then click Request (after reading the copyright statement!).
You will see the request on your record in the online catalog, when you log in to My Catalog. You will get an email message informing you when the article is ready, usually within 2-3 days; log in to My Catalog to retrieve it, in PDF.
Date of announcement: 6/4/2007
