The eighty-five documents presented in the Dred Scott collection were arranged and described by the Missouri State Archives.

Each document will have:

• A small representation of the document, in JPEG format. If both sides of the document have writing, both sides will be displayed.
• A descriptive caption of the document.
• A link to a larger image of the document (600 pixels wide), in JPEG format, sized for easy viewing on screen.
• A link to a very large image of the document (2000 pixels wide), in JPEG format, for easy examination of small details.
• A digital transcription, available in both HTML and MS Word formats.
• The ability to navigate chronologically through the documents.
