United Nations Preparatory Commission

Brief Note and further resources

After the League of Nations failed, the Allies of World War II sought to create another organization, which would become the United Nations. These volumes document the creation of the United Nations, whose charter was signed on June 26, 1945 in San Francisco, and came into force on October 24, 1945.

Washington University also holds the official records of the League of Nations. For more information on the history of the formation of the United Nations and the termination of the League of Nations, see the History section of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
