The Wagoner Papers consist of correspondence and manuscripts from early in the writer’s career. These manuscripts are for poems, plays, short stories, essays and novels, including work toward his third novel The Escape Artist (1965). Numerous notebooks, most from Wagoner’s student years, are also in the collection. A small series of correspondence includes letters to Wagoner from various literary figures.
