Access: Open

Born August 6, 1914 , Salisbury, Rhodesia [now Harare, Zimbabwe], Ronald Frederick Henry Duncan was a British playwright, poet, and man of letters whose verse plays express the contrast between traditional religious faith and the materialism and skepticism of modern times.  He is perhaps best remembered as the librettist (Benjamin Britten did the music) for The Rape of Lucretia.

The papers consist of two editions of the printed text of Lucretia.  The first is the 1946 Boosey and Hawkes edition, which also stores several clippings inside it.  The second is the 1948 Bodley Head, London, edition which, except for a few exceptions, keeps most of the revisions found in the 1946 edition.
